Why we don’t stock homeopathy

We could sell homeopathic products. Many pharmacies do.

However, we believe that products sold or recommended in a pharmacy should be supported by credible scientific evidence. Homeopathy does not meet that standard.

Homeopathic remedies are produced through repeated dilution. A commonly used dilution is 30C—or 1 part in (10^{60}). At that dilution, it is extraordinarily unlikely that even one molecule of the original substance remains. Homeopathy nevertheless claims that increasing the dilution makes the remedy more powerful. This conflicts with established principles of chemistry, biology and medicine.

More importantly, reliable clinical evidence has not shown homeopathy to work better than placebo.

Bell Street Pharmacy is family owned. We have no national chain determining what we must stock, so we can choose not to sell products that we cannot confidently recommend. Selling homeopathy would be inconsistent with the trust our patients place in us as health professionals.
